Pet photography · Sydney's Inner West

Because they're family.

Natural, heartfelt pet photography celebrating the animals who make life better. Pet photography across Sydney's Inner West and surrounding areas.

An introduction

They're never just a pet.

They're the sound of paws in the hallway each morning. The head on your knee at dinner. The particular way they wait at the door, the sock they always steal, the face they pull when you say "walk".

The years with them go faster than any of us would like. Photographs hold onto the small, ordinary things — the expressions only you would recognise.

"The photographs that matter most aren't necessarily the ones where everyone is looking perfectly at the camera. They're the ones that feel like them."

"But my dog won't sit still…"

Perfect.

Beautiful pet photography doesn't need perfect obedience. We work with your pet rather than expecting your pet to perform for the camera — using patience, play, toys, movement, food rewards where appropriate, and plenty of breaks.

  • Dogs can move, sniff and explore
  • Puppies can be puppies
  • Shy dogs can have space
  • Excitable dogs can have time
  • Breaks are part of the plan
  • Cats decide when they're ready

Every animal is different, and not every environment suits every pet — we'll plan together what's right for yours.

Our philosophy

Kindness comes before the photograph.

No image is worth frightening or forcing an animal. Sessions use patient, positive, reward-based handling. We do not use pain, intimidation, physical corrections or aversive training tools to create photographs.

Dog photography

Every dog has a story.

Zoomies, sniff breaks, the serious look before a ball is thrown, the soft eyes at the end of a long walk. Action, portrait, adventure and quiet moments — all about personality, not perfect poses.

Cat photography

Yes, cats too.

Cats are wonderful to photograph when they're allowed to be themselves. Sessions usually happen at home, in familiar spaces, at the cat's own pace. No forced interaction, no holding still — just patience and good light.

People & pets

Get in the photograph too.

"I just want photos of my dog" — we hear it often. But the images of you together, the lean, the laugh, the hand on their back, are so often the ones people treasure most. Natural moments, not stiff family portraits.

Senior pets

For the dogs and cats who've walked beside us the longest.

If your pet is older or living with health challenges, sessions can be adapted around their comfort, energy and individual circumstances — shorter sessions, familiar places, quiet connection, and as many family photographs as you'd like.

Hannah Ellis, photographer, sitting in a park with a golden retriever

Behind the camera

Hi, I'm Hannah.

"I love the perfectly imperfect moments — the head tilts, muddy paws, zoomies, sleepy expressions and the little looks between pets and their people."

I photograph pets the way their families see them: real, a bit silly, deeply loved. My sessions are slow and unhurried, with plenty of time for sniffing, treats and getting comfortable.

I'd much rather wait for a pet to relax than ask them to hold a pose — that's when their real personality shows up.

Locations

Where should we shoot?

At Home

Familiar, relaxed and personal.

Park

Natural greenery and room to explore.

Beach

Where permitted and safe.

Countryside

Open spaces and soft light.

Bushland

Dappled light and quiet trails.

Studio

Timeless, controlled portraits.

We always choose locations where your pet can be safe and local rules are respected — no off-lead photography where it isn't permitted, and no disturbing wildlife.

Safety & lead removal

Safety doesn't ruin the photograph.

Dogs don't need to be off-lead to create an off-lead-looking photograph. Your dog can stay safely on a normal lead, long line or harness, and the lead can be removed digitally afterwards.

If your dog cannot safely or legally be off lead, that's completely fine.

Terrier on the dunes

Milo — The Beach Explorer

Milo had places to sniff and no interest in posing. So we followed him — along the dunes, through the grass, pausing whenever he did. The best frames came from simply letting him be curious.

Tabby cat on an armchair

Luna — The Home-Body Cat

Luna's favourite place is her armchair in the afternoon sun. We worked around her routine, kept the session quiet, and let her decide when she was ready to be photographed.

Older labrador portrait

Rosie — The Senior Sweetheart

Rosie is fourteen and loves a slow morning. We planned a short session close to home with plenty of rest, focusing on the soft, familiar expressions her family loves.

"Biscuit didn't sit still for a second and Hannah didn't mind at all. The photos look exactly like him — tongue out, ears everywhere."
Sarah M. with Biscuit · Adventure Session
"Pepper usually hides from visitors. Hannah just sat quietly and waited, and by the end Pepper was on the windowsill showing off."
James T. with Pepper · At-Home Session
"We went at Rosie's pace with lots of rests. Being in some of the photos with her was the best decision we made."
Priya K. with Rosie · Senior Pet Session
"So relaxed and genuinely fun. We were nervous about being in front of the camera, but it felt like a walk in the park with a friend."

Questions

Good to know.

What if my dog won't sit still?

That's completely fine — and often where the best photographs come from. Sessions are built around movement, play and breaks. We work with your dog rather than expecting a performance.

Does my dog need to be trained?

No. Your pet doesn't need perfect obedience, a reliable stay or perfect manners. Patience, food rewards (where appropriate), toys and natural interaction do most of the work.

Can my dog stay on a lead?

Absolutely. Safety and local rules come first. Dogs can be photographed on a normal lead, long line or harness, and leads can often be removed digitally afterwards.

Can I be in the photographs too?

Yes, please! Photographs of you together often become the most treasured. You're welcome to be in as many or as few as you like.

Do you photograph cats?

Yes. Cat sessions usually work best at home, in familiar spaces, at the cat's own pace. Cats are never forced to interact or held in place for photographs.

Where do photography sessions take place?

At home, in local parks, at the beach where permitted, or in other locations across the service area. We'll choose somewhere that suits your pet.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We'll talk about options if the weather doesn't cooperate. [Add your genuine weather and rescheduling policy here.]

How long does a session take?

Approximate session lengths are listed with each package. Sessions can be adapted for puppies, older pets and pets who need more breaks.

When will I receive my photographs?

[Add your genuine gallery and delivery timeframe here.] Details will be confirmed when you book.

Do you offer prints or wall art?

Printed products can be discussed during your enquiry. [List the genuine products you offer here.]
